Sovereign King Church is a reformed, evangelical, and protestant church in Sellersburg, Indiana. We gather together as a church united around our confession of faith in Jesus Christ. We boldly proclaim the word of God to each other and to the community around us. Being transformed by the power of the gospel, we reconstruct our lives, families, culture, and society around the word of God. We are a new church plant made up of a community of believers seeking the kingdom of God first.
History
When Mark and Melissa Cox moved into their home in Sellersburg sixteen years ago, they prayed that God would use their new home for his glory. Mark had a vision for a church in Sellersburg that would be confessionally reformed and evangelistic. Years passed as Mark and his family faithfully served at a church in a different town but they did not forget the vision for planting a church in Sellersburg.
In 2015, Mark met Joseph Spurgeon and Aaron Sabie who were ministering outside of the abortion mill in Louisville, Kentucky. God knit their hearts together while they worked along side each other to share the gospel. When Joseph graduated from seminary, he was searching for what God would have for him and his family. God started to give him a desire to see a new reformed church that proclaimed all of God's word for all of life. Mark shared the vision he had for planting a church in Sellersburg with Joseph and Aaron. In 2016, a small bible study was started in Sellersburg at the home of Mark Cox. Sovereign King Church was birthed. The church is still in the early stages of planting but by the grace of God, it will grow to be a beacon of light to the world. In February 2018, Sovereign King Church launched Sunday Morning worship.
