Prayers of the Faithful

The prayers of God’s people are powerful and effective because we pray to the living God through Jesus Christ. Each Lord’s Day, we pray together for Christ’s Church, the work of gospel ministry, our civil leaders, and the needs before us. Use these requests in your prayers throughout the week.

Church
Give thanks for Bloomington Bible Church and Pastor Aaron Prelock. Pray that the Lord would strengthen this congregation in faithfulness to Scripture, reverent worship, Christian fellowship, and bold witness in Bloomington. Ask God to give Pastor Aaron wisdom, courage, endurance, and love as he preaches the Word and shepherds the flock. Pray that the church would remain united in truth, grow in holiness, strengthen Christian families, raise up godly leaders, and proclaim the lordship of Jesus Christ without compromise.

Ministry
Lift up Bobby McCreery and his work proclaiming the gospel on college campuses, city streets, outside abortion clinics, and wherever the Lord gives him an opportunity to preach Christ. Ask God to give him courage, compassion, wisdom, clarity, and protection. Pray that sinners would be convicted of sin, brought to repentance, and given faith in Jesus Christ. Ask the Lord to provide for Bobby and his family, strengthen the churches and Christians who labor alongside him, and produce lasting fruit through the public proclamation of His Word.

Civil Magistrates
Pray for Jeffersonville City Councilmember Scott Anderson. Ask God to grant him wisdom, humility, courage, and the fear of the Lord as he carries out the responsibilities of his office. Pray that he would govern justly, protect innocent life, restrain evil, defend families, and seek the true good of the people of Jeffersonville. Ask the Lord to lead him to acknowledge Jesus Christ as King and to exercise his authority in submission to God’s righteous rule.

Expectant Mothers
Pray for the expectant mothers in our congregation: Chelsea Mix, Emily Leupp, Isabelle Hargiss, and Rowina Spurgeon. Ask the Lord to preserve them and the children in their wombs, giving them health, strength, peace, and endurance. Pray that these mothers would be encouraged in body and soul, protected from fear and anxiety, and strengthened by the grace of Christ. Ask God to bless these little ones from the womb and to bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

Sharpening Our Arrows

The Sovereign King Family Catechism

Parents, catechism is a simple way to teach your children the truths of the faith. Review this week’s questions at the table, in the car, or before bed, and help your children understand what they are memorizing.

A. "Give us this day our daily bread."

Q. 132. What do we pray for in the fourth petition?

Congratulations to Justin Govanus

The heads of households of Sovereign King Church voted to elect Justin Govanus to the office of ruling elder.

We give thanks to God for His kindness to our congregation and for Justin’s faithful labor among us. The office of elder is a serious and weighty calling, and we rejoice to see the Lord continue to provide for the shepherding and oversight of His church.

An ordination service for Justin will be scheduled soon. Please be in prayer for Justin, his wife Caitlin, and their children as he prepares to take up this work. Pray also for our church, that Christ would continue to strengthen, guard, and build Sovereign King Church for His glory.

The King’s Council

Saturday, September 26,2026
5:00 to 8:00 PM
Sovereign King Church

Our first King’s Council was a success. We had a great turn out. Good food. And a timely message. We are looking to build on that work with our next meeting in September. More details to come.

The King’s Council is our quarterly men’s gathering: faithful men for hard times.

We live in confused times, and men need more than shallow answers, soft leadership, and surface-level religion. The King’s Council is a night of good food, strong teaching, honest conversation, earnest prayer, and real brotherhood.

This gathering is for men who want to grow in truth, courage, conviction, leadership, and faithfulness under the lordship of Jesus Christ. Whether you are curious about Christianity, hungry for stronger teaching, or ready to step up as a man, husband, father, or leader, there is a seat at the table for you.

Take your place at The King’s Council, and bring another man with you.

Frontier Shepherds Conference

September 16–17, New Geneva Academy will host the Frontier Shepherds Conference, a gathering for pastors, church planters, and church members who long to see faithful pastoral care and whole-life discipleship strengthened in our churches.

New Geneva Academy is a ministry connected with our presbytery, and Sovereign King Church is glad to support its work. This conference is not only for pastors, but for anyone who desires to see faithful men raised up to plant churches, shepherd souls, preach to the conscience, lead with conviction, and love the sheep God has entrusted to them.

This year’s speakers will bring seasoned wisdom on planting churches that practice real pastoral care and discipleship, the kind of work that was at the heart of the Reformation and is greatly needed in our own day.

Attendees can expect faithful teaching, warm fellowship, good food, sweet worship, and a Thursday night concert by My Soul Among Lions, complete with dessert.

All attendees are also warmly invited to attend Evangel Presbytery’s Fall Stated Meeting on Friday, September 18, at Trinity Reformed Church.

We encourage our members to consider attending, especially those who desire to grow in their understanding of church planting, pastoral care, and the work of reformation in the local church.
