Evangelism and Outreach
A Testimony of the Lord’s Faithfulness
This video traces part of the history of Sovereign King Church, from our early days as a church plant to years of public gospel witness outside the abortion mill, the closing of that clinic, and the continued work of strengthening and building Christ’s Church in Southern Indiana.
Proclaiming Christ in Our Community and Beyond
At Sovereign King Church, we believe the gospel is public truth. Jesus Christ is King, and His gospel must be proclaimed in the church, in our homes, in our neighborhoods, in the public square, and to the nations.
The Church is not called to hide from the world. We are called to confess Christ, proclaim His gospel, and love our neighbors with truth and courage. That means we pray, preach, speak, serve, warn, plead, and bear witness to the grace and authority of Jesus Christ.
Missions and Media
The work of proclamation also goes beyond our local streets. Sovereign King Church supports and prays for gospel ministry beyond our congregation. We want Christ preached in our community, across our nation, and among the nations.
We also use media, writing, podcasts, video, music, and online tools as the Lord gives opportunity. These are not replacements for the local church, but they can be useful tools for teaching, exhorting, and spreading the truth.
Public Witness
We believe Christians should not be ashamed of public witness. Throughout Scripture, God’s people speak His truth openly. The prophets cried out in the gates. John the Baptist called sinners to repentance. The apostles preached Christ in public places. The Church is still called to speak.
At Sovereign King Church, this has included street preaching, evangelism, public prayer, abortion ministry, outreach at local events, conversations with neighbors, and opportunities to speak the truth in the public square.
Not every member will do the same work in the same way. But every Christian should know that the faith is not private. Christ is Lord over all, and His gospel is good news for sinners.
Mercy and Good Works
Evangelism and mercy belong together. We do not love our neighbors by giving them bread while withholding the gospel, and we do not honor the gospel by ignoring real needs.
As the Lord gives opportunity, we seek to love our neighbors, help those in need, encourage families, serve the weak, and show practical mercy ordered by wisdom and truth.
Good works do not save us. Christ saves sinners by grace. But those saved by grace are called to be zealous for good works.
Defending the Weak
For many years, Sovereign King Church has labored to defend preborn children and call our community to repentance over the sin of abortion. That work has included prayer, preaching, sidewalk ministry, public witness, and care for mothers and fathers who need the mercy and truth of Jesus Christ.
We continue to believe that children in the womb are made in the image of God and must be protected. We also believe the gospel offers forgiveness, cleansing, and new life to all who repent and trust in Jesus Christ, including those wounded by abortion.
The form of this ministry may change over time, but the duty remains. God calls His people to defend the weak, speak for those who cannot speak for themselves, and proclaim mercy to sinners through Christ.
Join Us in the Work
Evangelism is not only for pastors or the few people willing to speak in public. Every Christian is called to confess Christ, love his neighbor, and be ready to give an answer for the hope within him.
You can join this work by praying, inviting others to worship, speaking the gospel in your home and workplace, serving in outreach opportunities, supporting missions, and learning to speak the truth with courage and love.
We want to be a church that does not merely believe the gospel, but proclaims it.
Come labor with us as we confess Christ as King, proclaim His gospel reign, and construct according to His command.
